Posted by: badlred from on 01/04/2016It s not as fast as what I wanted, but it definitely gets the job done. I use this as an external backup, so far no issues.

Posted by: ElCookie from on 01/04/2016Bought this hard drive based on previews reviews to replace failed hard drive. So far no issues and was easy to install.

Posted by: SolCrusader from on 12/30/2015Works exactly as intended and the price wasn t high either.

Posted by: Suj123 from on 12/29/2015Excellent internal HD, installed without any problem

Posted by: VMFTech from on 12/29/2015Easy and quick install and configure. Instructions were easy to follow.

Posted by: Greg from on 12/28/2015I added this drive to my power mac in 10 minutes. worked perfect.

Posted by: Hawg427 from on 12/28/2015It works as expected, it does the job. I won t be taking any more of my Apple products to Best Buy anymore though. When I took my iMac in for a new HD to be installed the thermostat for the screen fell off. The BB tech could not figure out why my fan was so loud and would not cut off. The iMac had to be shipped off to a different repair place through BB or it was sent to Apple, I do not know. I finally got it back 2 weeks later and it worked. But it came down to me threatening my local BB store with a lawsuit because they initially did NOT want to fix it, they said things happen.

The hard drive works great so far

Posted by: Dawn from on 12/28/2015We purchased this hard drive after ours crashed. This one has worked well so far.

Posted by: ElMonkster from on 12/28/2015Good speed, somewhat quiet, excellent performance. Would recommend.

Product images, including color, may differ from actual product appearance.

Posted by: Wifes from on 12/28/2015Works as it should. The instruction were un-clear on how to set it up, after two hours we finally got it formatted and loaded a fresh copy of win 10 on it.

Good Replacement Desktop Serial ATA Hard Drive

Posted by: mortuculus from on 12/28/2015Old hard drive was giving errors - purchased this one to replace and add extra space and it has been perfect for what I needed.

Posted by: PatC from on 12/28/2015Still hoping that the new hard drive will solve a few more issues.

Posted by: temak from on 12/28/2015Drive installed with little effort and worked as expected. This is in a Mac Pro early 2009 with 3 open drive bays.

Posted by: apoulsen from on 12/28/2015This drive worked smoothly as an upgrade from 500GB.

Posted by: chrashedHD from on 12/27/2015great drive and price. Remember to purchase SATA cable if you are adding this as secondary drive.

Posted by: Happy from on 12/24/2015Original hard drive went south in my 4 year-old HP desktop. This one was on sale for under 60, fit perfectly, works great.

Posted by: dp88 from on 12/21/2015My last WD hard drive failed after a couple years, so going with the Saegate, good price. We ll see if it lasts longer than the WD.

Posted by: MRjvc from Philly on 12/20/2015Good install. Needed the room for files and photos. Easy to work with

Posted by: Diane from on 12/20/2015Installed with no problems and works just fine. Great.

Posted by: Freep from on 12/18/2015Bought this to replace a failed WD Blue drive that was only a month old. Worked like a champ and reliability has been good thus far.

Seagate 1TB Internal SATA Hard Drive

Posted by: Lowkey from on 12/17/2015Purchased this as a replacement to a smaller original primary drive. Works great, as the primary and have purchased additional larger capacity drives for additional storage.

Posted by: Vector from on 12/16/2015It does what it is supposed to do. It saves data and is internal.

Posted by: Trealkid from on 12/16/2015Great price and perfect amount of space if youre looking for a upgrade or replacment.

Posted by: rrayjr from on 12/16/2015I wasn t planning on buying a Seagate Hard drive, But my local Best Buy didn t have the size of the drive I want for my new computer build. But everything seems to be good so far

Posted by: PCTechathome from on 12/16/2015I find the Seagate s have a lower failure rate than other drives I ve purchased. Easy install, easy use.

Posted by: Suki from on 12/14/2015quick install-no issues. paired with a WD hdd in a NAS unit to run Raid 1 set up. works as expected.

Worked perfectly for 3 months, may be a rare case.

Posted by: pootislord from on 12/13/2015Just to let you know, segate has a very high return rate for their hard drives, and it P s me off that they have not gotten their RMA down. UPS lost my package, and now im down a hard drive. The drive was working perfectly, until it cut its RPM in half and died.

Excellent product for the price

Posted by: Tony from on 12/13/2015I received a warning that my hard drive was about to fail. I went to Best Buy for their extensive catalog and quick delivery options and found this drive on sale. I bought the drive; had it delivered the next day and installed it the following day. The best part is that it came with cloning software that copied my old 500 GB drive to the new, 1 TB drive in 8 minutes instead of the 2 hours I expected. It was an excellent purchase and I couldn t be happier.

Posted by: 1951 from on 12/12/2015I have purchased this brand of had drive for a number of years and they have never failed.

Posted by: Ubergeek66 from Tucson, AZ on 12/12/2015Lots of space and this hard drive works as it should, good purchase.

We are real pleased with your product.

Posted by: coop from on 12/12/2015Our computer works a lot better with your product. We have no more problems or issues.

Posted by: DanoOK from on 12/12/2015Priced lower than the others o the shelf, it had better last to justify taking a chance. Seems quiet compared to my WD but with a little more heat generated. My surveillance DVR can handle that.

Posted by: Krys from on 12/12/2015Did exactly what I needed it to do. Great product. Would buy it again if I needed to.

Posted by: David from on 12/11/2015This was a very simple purchase of an additional hard drive to set up in my windows 7 computer. it was very easy to install and worked out of the box. I would recommend this band as a simple solution to adding space for the computer as it works out of the box.

Posted by: skippi from Jackson, Mi on 12/11/2015I had to have a new hard drive. It seems to be doing the job.

Posted by: ChicagoSparky from on 12/11/2015This drive installed without a hitch and continues to function well as the primary drive for an All-In-One desktop machine. I had used it to replace

Posted by: KenH from on 12/11/2015I have bought 5 of these over the last year to replace various other older hard drives. 4 have been used in 2 separate Raid 1 setups and one to replace a hard drive in a DVR. All passed pre-install drive testing and work as expected. Note the product features page on the Best Buy website states Data transfer rates up to 3 Gbps. On the products package and on the Seagate website they are listed as having a SATA 6 Gb/s interface, backward compatible to SATA 3/1.5 Gb/s.

Posted by: boopsiedaisy from on 12/11/2015Love that I didn t have to purchase new computer. Thanks.

Great purchase. Easy to Install.

Posted by: BBReviewer54 from on 10/03/2015I had a Dell Inspiron One that needed a new hard drive. I purchased this one and installed it, which was easy. It has worked fine every since. Glad to get the machine up and running again.

Posted by: msawyer91 from on 10/02/2015Hard drives are either good or bad. They work, or they don t. This is a drive that works, and it works fast. I use SSDs for the operating system and hard drives like this one for data storage, especially media streaming. I expect a drive that will stream media without hesitation or stuttering, hence my desire for a high performing drive. Also important are power consumption, heat and noise. I use a product called WindowSMART 2015 which monitors the health of all my drives, including temperature. Drives that run hot are prone to premature failure, and I am pleased to report this drive runs fast and runs cool. This translates into a computer s fans cooling system not having to work as hard, thereby reducing overall power consumption.

Posted by: Steve from on 10/02/2015Used this hard drive for years in my home server in a raid setting with only one drive failure and also installed in other computers as replacement drives never had one come back as failed.

Good performance for a low price.

Posted by: jaybeeem from Southern Maine on 10/02/2015Installed easily, had no problem loading software, and it continues to work well.

Posted by: PJknight from on 10/02/2015I would have purchased the black instead but this will do.

Posted by: Nerd1325 from on 09/20/2015Plugged this hard drive in loaded windows and I was up and running in no time.

Posted by: Harborboy from on 09/20/2015Works well with my Mac Pro going to buy two more for the Mac

Posted by: ValleyITGuy from on 09/19/2015I am an IT support vendor for several small and medium sized post-production companies in the Hollywood area. I bought the drives to migrate a client from OS X Lion Avid Media Composer 6 to OS X Mavericks Avid Media Composer 7. I chose the Seagate 1 TB drives for their 64 MB cache size more is better, 7200 RPM speed faster is better, high reliability, and a sale price that was nice, too.

I did this upgrade three months ago and everything has been rock solid ever since, which is really important since my clients tend to run everything at least 15 hours a day and at least 6 days a week.

I would recommend these drives as Boot drives for Windows 7 up, or OS X use from Lion up. These will be solid in a regular office environment, too.

This product saved the day on my desktop that died

Posted by: Skgpgg from on 09/11/2015I liked the idea that Seagate provided cables so that I could add this to my existing system. Western Digital does not. You just never know when a cable will go bad or why pay extra for the WD. Very quiet and quick drive. I didn t want a large drive so this works perfect for my application.

Posted by: Pete from on 09/11/2015The tool for moving data from the old disk to the Seagate was only available via download. The box gives the impression it is included. It could easily be included on a cheap CD on the new drive itself.

Posted by: gwang87 from Lawrence, KS on 04/15/2008I managed to get this drive for 189. This drive is whisper quite, not hot, and works falwless in my Nexstar 3 HDD enclosure. The feature that this drive stands out from others is 32MB buffer and 5 year warranty. Literally, you pay . 189 for every GB you get, and it s even 10 cheaper than its 750GB version. What a steal.

Posted by: mnalf from MN on 04/12/2008This drive may not be an ideal drive to run the OS from, I use a 10000 rpm Raptor X for that. But if you are looking for a solid HD to use for storage this one is an ideal choice. I installed 2 of them in my NAS200 network storage system and I am thrilled at how cool they run. Some people might knock a star off for the speed but for a 7200 r.p.m. drive it is not less than I what expected. It is also hard to beat a 5 year limited warranty too.

1. Install the beast must have SATA interface

2. Go to the Run command and type in compmgmt.msc

3. Pops up computer management command

4. Click on first menu option on left - Computer Management Local

5. On right, click storage then disc management

6. Will show all active drives, such as C and Unknown your new one

7. Select new drive, on bottom right and click initialize

8. Once initialized, go through prompts selecting NTFS or FAT32 go NTFS

9. Wait for this badboy to format, takes an hour or so

Seagate Barracuda 1TB Internal SATA Hard Drive

Posted by: MrMojo from NE USA on 02/08/2009Own 2 of these massive hard drives.

Very simple to install especially if it s used as a secondary drive.

If used as primary drive, then the Cloning software isn t that good.

Sure, it cloned the original hdd but it kept the partition. NOT good when you upgraded from 250GB to 1T since the Cloned drive is recognized as a 250GB drive NOT a 1T drive..

1. Buy a partitioning software to remove partition and resize the hard drive so it ll be recognized properly as a 1Tb drive

2. Do what many PC users do annually - RESTORE THE ENTIRE PRIMARY DRIVE with a Fresh installation of Windows. Sure, it ll LITERALLY take HOURS for a Fresh install but you ll have a Clean PC that s run faster and smoother since it s not loaded with software garbage that accumulated over time.

I chose Option 2 which took literally 1 entire day but, in the end, it was worth it. My 3 year old computer now runs smoother, faster and has lots of room on the primary drive. I now have a computer with 2 1Tb hard drives but I still perform backups to external drives.

BTW my external harddrives are now becoming 1Tb hard drives since I build them myself with 1Tb internal drives and external Hdd enclosures. It s very simple to assemble then plug and play for additional MASSIVE storage. It s better to build your own External hard drives than buy one of those pre-bulit ones that don t even include an on/off switch..

Price is pretty good now 117 sale price.

Better than the 125-130 sale price about 1 month ago so it s SLOWLY dropping in price.

Not sure about the reliability so keep your receipts and register the product.

Seagate used to be TERRIBLE years ago but when it bought Maxtor, then their HDD quality actually improved since the company must have obviously incorporated Maxtor s engineering designs into their own designs..

Do not buy. This drive has problems.

Posted by: sfmike22 from Bay Area California on 02/08/2009I bought this drive a few months ago and it worked great as a secondary drive on my desktop PC. 24 hours ago i got the blue screen of death and can not boot to windows. After removing sound, video and tuner card I finally diagnosed this drive as the problem. When I went to seagate.com I was overwhelmed when I saw the known issue with this drive. The site claims through technical analysis we believe the drive is okay as is well let me tell you it is not. Seagate so far has stated I will need to pay for data recovery - We will see after the corporate office opens tomorrow

Concerned that they do not all have the same firmware versions and one of these was a 340 4-platters version instead of the expected 333 3-platters. Got expected pefrormance and they just plugged in and worked on my system. Can t beet the cost at 100 per disk on sale. Got 4TB for only 400. Hope they have good long term reliability but with cost this cheap I can afford to put in place true redundant backup.

Posted by: richierich42 from on 01/31/2009Just bought two of these to run as a 1TB RAID1 array. Within 2 hours, my old filled 500GB hard drive was cloned using the included DiscWizard software actually Acronis True Image in disguise, what a nice, free surprise., and now I m running my old OS off the new drives. I really didn t think it would go so smoothly, as I ve never set up a RAID configuration before. It s pretty quiet, same as my old Western Digital.

Posted by: kehart25 from Dallastown, PA on 01/31/2009I bought this drive to add to a Windows Home Server. I tested the drive with my desktop computer to make sure there were no problems with it before adding to server. Drive tested fine. The CD that comes with the drive is not bootable, but a quick download of SeaTools for DOS from Seagate s website and I had a bootable diagnostic floppy image. Check Seagate s website, this drive does NOT require a firmware update. I have since added it to the server and have had no problems at all. I ve always used W D drives in the past, but after having 3 drives fail in the last 8 months, decided to try something else. All 3 that died were less than 2 years old, but WD only gives you a 1 year warranty that might have changed recently, but that doesn t help me now, this drive has a five year warranty. All in all, I m very happy with this drive and would happily recommend it to anyone.

Posted by: tkunk from Mpls, MN on 01/26/2009I saw these on sale on BB website, I bought three and configured in a RAID 0 set up for HD video scratch, and all my media files. Striping three drives can give you over twice the speed of two. These went in a MacPro. I plugged all three in, powered up, configure HD screen popped up, picked my configuration, and in ten seconds I had a new 2,999,582,195,712 Byte HDD that is so, so fast. The drawback to a RAID 0 set up is the fact that if one HDD fails, you lose everything, but back up is on the way once the 2TB externals drop a bit in price.

Posted by: Rob121 from Rochester, NY on 01/18/2009I had recently put in a 500Gb Seagate and was happy with it s performance in my 5 year old PC. When my 80Gb drive began to fail, I bought this 1 TB drive. My computer does not recognize it. In fact, connecting it made my PC stop seeing my 500Gb drive. I called Seagate and they said they have a firmware problem and they could send me the updated firmware. The issue is, if my PC won t recognize the drive, how can I update the firmware. I will return it. I will probably buy a Western Digital. My only issue with that is, since I will have both a Seagate and a WD, I will probably have one more process automatically loading up during boot up.

Recommend these only to people you don t like

Great Value, Better Quality, Awesome Drive

Posted by: ExNavyBubbleHead from SW MO on 09/28/2009I bought this for my 3 yr old desktop - It replaced a 250 GB factory HD. I installed the drive in minutes, only 2 connections, Power and Sata - The software was easy to install and use. I started cloning my old drive to the new - went to sleep - and when I woke up, I disconnected the old drive and turned my computer on - Now I have a brand new computer again. Quadrupled my memory for less than 100 - I will definitely be getting another for additional memory - The greatest thing about Seagate VS. Western Digital - This drive has a 5 year warranty, what do you have to lose.

Posted by: CharlesImaPC from Gastonia, NC on 09/22/2009I have three of these drives but 1 failed after 14 months. They typically either fail within the first couple weeks or years of use. This guy failed abruptly after just 14 months of moderate use without warning. I m learning the hard way to be vigilant about backing up your data. In general, I m disappointed with this drive which should have performed better. I m trying a Western Digital Black next.

Posted by: 300cpilot from Boise, Idaho on 09/19/20091. Replacing Firmware does not always get your data back. Best case is that your computer will see a new blank hard drive.

2. If you have a failed drive you can now get the manufacturer of this drive to recover your data, if you are lucky you will not have much on it because they charge by the file. If you scream real loud you might get it for free.

3. Be prepared to wait a long time form the manufacturer, they are behind.

4. Other companies charges start in the 2800.00 just to look and see if they can get your data. Our bill for 3-1tb drives was 27,500.00, wish this was a typo. It took the company 5 days straight, 24 hours a day to recover 85 of our data. A 15 loss of data for us equals we do not know if we will survive. Oh ya the second company to look at the drives only cost us 5800.00, but they could not recover anything at all.

You will pay in the beginning or in the end, but you will pay.

Cheap Choices cost more then you will ever know.

Posted by: Nevitt from Pittsburgh, PA on 09/14/2009Not a bad drive all around. Easy and quick setup. However about 6months later the drive is making this band sounding click and scraping. RMA process is ok. They make you send the drive first or pay 20 bucks to have one sent to you in advance with 140 dollar penalty if you do not return the drive. I however do not have enough storage on my other drives to accommodate all the data on the failing one. I m going to get a Western Digital drive like my other 3 that have not failed in over 3 years.

Posted by: sinewave from on 08/07/2009I ve been working with computers since the dos and green screen days snd Seagate was the first drive I ever had. They ve been around for a LONG time. For a while, in the 90 s, WD and Maxtor dominated the market, but then Seagate came from behind again and kicked some serious butt. I used to like WD s and Maxtors, but after comparing the specs, Seagate has them beat. I have 8 Seagate sata drives and 3 Seagate EIDE PATA drives and they all work flawlessy. Besides having faster access times than WD, they have a 5 year warranty, which WD only gives you one. And I always tell everyone - backup, backup, backup If you think your drive will not fail, then you re a fool.

As for installation, come onwho could possibly have a problem installing a sata drive You don t even have pins to worry about.

So all in all, this is a great drive for the price..just don t forget to check your BIOS and make sure your BIOS can handle it as well as the controller on your mobo.

Posted by: GeminiTX from TX on 07/20/2009I bought this drive to upgrade the 160GB drive inside my Tivo HD. I more than quadrupled my recording space and so far have no complaints about this drive. It runs warm but not too hot. The noise is trivial, as with most modern hard drives. The main selling point of this unit is the 5 year warranty. As with all hard drives, it is bound to fail at some point. So whether it s 3 years down the road, or 4, this drive has the upper hand on Western Digital. This is the main bullet point in my book.

Posted by: Props028 from PA on 04/19/2009It s quite, I did some benchmark research before I bought it. My fear, after searching all over the net, was that 1 terabyte HD s have a high failure rate. I went with the 1TB drive instead of the the 1.5 for various reasons; once installed, I ve had no problemshowever, I was uneasy once the package arrived.

I moved.my previous account didn t update in BB s system after I corrected the mailing address, before placed the order. A delicate HD shipped to an old address.I was concerned. I contacted my old address, they would personally hand me my shipment, along with some comments about the box. For UPSthe box was banged upwhether dropped or mishandled, I don t konw

Long story short, it works, installed easily and I m greatful that the DOA doesn t apply to me. If it does, I ll add another review.

Posted by: avirpok from Hayden, Id on 03/29/2009The drives works great gives me a score of 7.9 in win7 rc 1 5057.

For those who think that some space is missing, remember 1 k is metric 1024.

In the USA we round it down to 1000. So if you add up all the additional 24 s in 100000 kilo bytes you will find your terabyte.

Posted by: Willie498 from Los Angeles,California on 01/11/2009i bought this hard drive as a slave to my 40gb Seagate baracuda which was full. First there was no switch thing to put on the back, so i had to reinstall windows vista on the new one, which of course, is never a fun process, had to download the software off the internet because the software that came with it didnt work. Finally got it to work after 5 hours. Overall i may or may not recommend it to the average computer user.

Posted by: HNL123 from Honolulu, Hawaii on 12/26/2008My experience with this drive was similar to another reviewer s - the drive suddenly failed after only 2 months with no warning. Upon investigating, I could feel the drive powering and spinning up during boot-up, but failed to be recognized by the PC. As with the other reviewer, I had the drive for exactly 2 months prior to failure. This drive was installed in a Dell Inspiron 530 as a second drive. I had no complaints with performance - while it was still working. I could not recommend this drive to anyone - based on two failures under similar circumstances with similar symptoms. The Seagate warranty replacement program also does not seem to work well with locations in Hawaii - i.e., although shipping back to the factory for drive replacement purposes is supposed to be free via UPS, the website insisted that the service is not available from the originating location - meaning that shipping costs from Hawaii were not covered.

easy install, great cloning software

Posted by: from Birmingham, Alabama on 12/23/2008I am not a computer wizard and would normally have left this work to an IT Consultant, but after running out of hard drive space on our server, I attempted to mitigate the problem with a Western Digital MyBook external hard drive. the MioNet software related to that product is horrible, making it virtually impossible to work with, so I decided to pursue adding an internal hard drive. I thought it would only supplement the existing poorly partitioned drive, but Seagate s DiscWizard Software with cloning function offered me an option I thought I would never accomplish at my skill level - complete cloning/replacement of the old drive with larger partitions option of proportional to new drive size or custom. The data transfer and startup worked flawlessly, and the tips about accessing the system BIOS to add the additional hard drive were very helpful - most manufacturer s would have omitted this simple information and I would have struggled with internet searches and calls to tech savy friends.

Though I haven t tested transfer rate, I anticipate I will purchase a second terabyte drive and install it alongside the first to create a backup/RAID 1

before going to the store, I looked at these online reviews and had determined to purchase the Hitachi. I m certain that is a good product and have always trusted Hitachi, but I m glad the store did not have that product because I doubt it had the DiscWizard software that was a lifesaver for a novice like me. I was certain Western Digital would not be on my shopping list given previous experience with the external drive and from their product packaging and reviews, I m certain I would not have been happy with that product compared to the Seagate.

Posted by: KEMCO from CT on 12/16/2008I bought 2 of these drives, based on my past experience with Seagate as a long lasting, reliable, fast and low heat drive. I have 6 of them running 24/7 now for the past 6 years, some SATA, some PATA and not a single failure to date.

I was extremely disappointed with these particular drives, since they could not even be seen by my ASUS K8VSEDX Mobos. I called Seagate Tech Support and spent almost 2 hours talking to a very knowledgeable TSR, but we were unable to figure out why this glitch was occurring.

My mobo was listed as being compatible with the drive. We tried it with and without the jumper. It would just not drop back to the 1.5 SATA nor would it even be seen in the BIOS or the OS.

The BIOS was updated to the latest version, all of the ports were on, we even tried them on another system, and older DELL server, but it could not see the drives either.

Posted by: JDevil from Monaca, PA on 10/27/2008i bought this hdd for storage of movie files.. and it works great. i probably would nt recommend putting your OS on it because these are made kinda cheap and would burn out in a year or so. but once again using it just for storage is what this thing is best for and the price is great. now i installed this in my emachines which was primarily set up for IDE hardware but i found 4 sata inputs on my motherboard and connected this bad boy up in no time. the only problem was i had to go into my bios set up screen F2 startup and change the order in which the hard drives boot..because my computer wanted to boot this harddrive first and not my other hard drive which has my OS on itnothing big..only took a couple miinutes. now i get to store my movie collection as if it s on demand

Posted by: Supraboi650 from San Francisco, CA on 10/20/2008I got this hard drive when it was on sale for 149.99 and it was a great deal. It was very easy to install and included a program that easily mirror your old hard drive. Just don t expect this drive to be exceedingly fast. Overall I would have to say, if you could get it on sale, it would be a nice storage drive. However I do have to warn you that this hard drive is significantly louder than my previous Seagate Hard Drive 250GB Barracuda. Posted by: M13a from Port Jefferson Station, NY on 09/14/2008This is a great drive. Has good read and write times and a 5 year warranty from a name like Seagate I m sold. I currently use this for data storage and system back up. Only problem I have with this drive is that I can t find any information on this model from Seagate s website nor can I register it for the warrany. The site reports it as an error though and not that the serial number is invalid. I ve already owned this for about 3 weeks and it works fine but I ll be more confident in this drive if I got the warranty to back it up. Otherwise this is a great hard drive, plenty of room for movies, music, and whatever else you plan on using it for.

Posted by: navic99 from Philly on 09/07/2008Hard drive is easy to install and was up and running with a couple minutes of installing it into my computer. This is a 1 TB drive. It s replacing my 250 GB which was on the verge of failure. I will have tons of space on here for a looooong time.

Posted by: jetlite from on 08/07/2008Installing this hard drive was simple and quick. Seagate has done a good job at making the transfer of information from the old hard drive to the new one. It took me about 1/2 hour for the whole process.

Posted by: JerryA from Mpls, MN on 07/03/2008Bought and installed four in May and zero failures thus far. Nice and quiet in eSATAII box, no temp problems. 5-year warranty is worth an extra 10- 20, IMO--especially on a 1TB drive.
