Vaio Camera Driver Windows 8

Had the same challenge and some others with a VGN-CR31Z after a clean install of Win8 64 bits and finally found a working driver. To make sure the one I found fits your config:

Are you running a 32 or 64 bits version of 8. What is your webcam Hardware Identification Number. :

- Goto device manager and look at the Properties of your webcam

- Go to the Details tab then select Hardware Identification Number in the dropdown list

- Right-click on the first line of the Value box and select Copy

- Paste this information in your next reply

Note: It is required to take backup of all the data before performing the system recovery as it erases everything from the computer.

If issue still persists, contact Sony Support Team in your country to initiate the service.

Ok, I just did a fresh install of windows 7 64 bit on my girlfriend s computer. The fresh install went smoothly as expected. i loaded the wifi driver on to a zip drive earlier because establishing an internet connection was priority for me.this was so I could visit Sony s website and download the other necessary drivers. The screen looked perfect after the fresh installthe brightness was spot on.

After installing several components drivers, the screen dimmed on me. It was plugged in the whole time, so it wasn t a power issue. The display propertes allow me to adjust the brightness slider, but the screen won t brighten or dim when i do this. Also, the fn/f5/f6 key combination shows nothing. Infact, none of the fn hotkeys. will function.

Again, the screen is awesome when the computer is booting splashscreen, but is extremely dim after reaching the desktop. any ideas.

side not: Disk management shows that there is a partition set aside for recovery, but I have tried all kinds of ways to access it and failed miserablyjust to access it. pointers on this may be good too.

We have an older VGN-AR190G laptop that has been sitting for a couple of years.  When I boot it up, everything looks fine until it gets into Windows XP MCE, then the screen goes blank.  If I boot into safe mode, everything looks fine.  Once in safe mode, I uninstall the display adapter NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 GT.   I can then boot into Windows normally.

I tried downloading the original driver from Sony Support.  I install it, and once the installation is just about complete, the screen goes dark again.  I then tried installing the latest version of that driver from Sony, but it hangs on the screen Searching for device drivers.   The system doesn t freeze, but the install will not get past that step.

Finally, I did a system restore, but I hit the same issue once it gets to the point of installing the display driver.  I then have to reboot, go into safe mode and disable or uninstall it again.  My son purchased this laptop new when he was in the Marines and remembered that it was doing this the last few times he tried to use it.

I checked the Windows Event Viewer and found this error:

The driver nv4_disp for the display device Device Video3 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates.

After doing some searches on the topic, I found hundreds of posts having to do with Nvidia and this error.  Some of the suggestions are to replace the video card, but that s not an option with this laptop.

Has anyone seen this issue with these older Vaio laptops.  Better yet, anyone find a solution.

So, in the first time that i used my notebook, the Gesture option was enable and i used and love it, but in the next day the option was not there

i see the other persons have the same problem, i tryed to reinstal and not work.

I have a Vaio VPCCW23FX running Windows 7 Home Premium. My original Vaio hard drive is dying after just over 2 years. I attempted to create recovery disks from my laptop but that process failed; Sony support said that my recovery partition must have gotten corrupted and I would have to buy the disks from them. Fine, I did that. I also bought a new Western Digital 1TB laptop hard drive same cache size and speed as the drive in the laptop, just more storage space. I WAS able to create a System Image disk from my laptop, even though I couldn t create recovery disks.

Installation of the new hard drive was quick and easy and I had no problems. The recovery process has been unsuccessful so far, however. It APPEARS to be going smoothly and successfully and all 4 disks run and files get copied to the new hard drive. I get to the end and it says to remove the disk and restart the computer to complete installation.

As it s booting up I see a couple of messages that look like it s working things like updating registry, installing devices. Then across the bottom of the screen it says, Setup is applying system settings and an error message box appears. It says, Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer s hardware. The only option is to click OK, at which point the computer restarts.

When the computer restarts after that error message, the same things happen but I get a new error message: Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation. Again the only option is to click OK, which makes the computer reboot, which makes this error message appear, etc.

I can hit F8 as soon as the VAIO logo appears and get to a Windows recovery menu. I can start in safe mode, I can choose to go to recovery mode, I can even get to a command prompt and see what s on the drive.

There IS a good bit of information on the drive about 20GB or so, if I remember correctly. Based on the directories that are there, it LOOKS like Windows is there and should work but it doesn t and it won t tell me why.

I can run Startup Repair and it tells me it can t detect a problem. It has even told me, Boot status indicates that the OS booted successfully.

I have tried putting in the System Image disk that I created, but System Recovery and Startup Repair don t seem to recognize it.

I have screen shots of various messages and of the command prompt info. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Again, these are the Windows 7 recovery disks that I ordered directly from Sony, specific to my laptop model, and the only difference in the computer is that I bought a 1TB drive to replace the dying 500GB drive.

Ok I made my second mistake after purchasing my second VAIO. The first one is obvious.

It had Windows 7 Home Premium on it. NO OEM disc and no recovery discs or system startup discs.

It had many issues with dropping out operating systems that i used for work and they were so bad I had to call in the Pro s to get it back operational. TWICE. And it cost me 700. I was told to updgrade to 7 PRO which I did. It did it again so i retired the computer to home use. It was only 5 months old when I did this.

It has issues at home. Stopping. Stalling. Jamming etc  etc etc You know, usual windoows PC stuff. I ran all sorts of fix it programs through it. Last week after being nagged by the wife to fix the piece of AGAIN so she could play her Farmville I dont allow any of that sort of stuff on any of my own computers I decided to bite the bullet, and upgrade to win8. ISSUES as usual so I thought F K this and decided to wipe the C drive and start again. I went and bought a brand new Toshiba hard drive for thebackup;. Spent many hours formatting it to the correct setup for partitioning etc etc etc. Ran the backup program and after 4-5 hours I get a message that something went wrong and that there was not enough space to do the backup. The backup needed 246gig and the hard drive was 500gig. Try again it said. I did, 6 more F G times and each of them it kept coming back with the same S T.

OK I will do a windows repair disc and I will do some recovery discs. W7 disc no probs. Recovery Discs, no such luck. Disc 1 of 3 FINE. Disc 2Problem. Try again after shutting down and restarting. So I did. Another few wasted DVD s and I got the same thing. TRY AGAIN it said. NOT F G LIKELY.

Went to the SONY help pages. NOTHING. downloads. NOTHING. CUSTOMERT SERVICE. NOT F G LIKELY.

I have run every angle I can and this last one is the final insult. When in the hard drive recovery diagnostic menu I tried to find things on my hard drive. THIS MAY TAKE A FEW MINUTES the pop up said. 2 hours later, I hit the power button to turn it off as it was still saying the same .

SO Mr SONY, what have you got in your nal to fix YOUR problems. As you didnt supply anything with the computer, I suggest that you should have downloads of the needed programs but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I tried many various SONY suggestions. Hold this button, tap that one etc etc. So I try again. SKIP rescue as I have done this 7 times already. Select recover system to factory conditions and pray. GOD is apparently out of help with SONY VAIO customers as even he cant fix them. Prayers dont work and neither does this F G laptop. ERROR 320 apparently a memory problem. RUN DIAGNOSTICS Nothing wrong. Run recovery again. error 320. F K

Ok try and trick the SONY do a custom recovery no no no sony look like they have fixed that loophole too. ERROR CODE 1

OH, THE PIECE OF IS A VPCCB15FG

AND LASTLY the only reason the wife wanted it was because it is ORANGE. Yep, the operating system nor reputation of the company Once good did not matter. And why should it when you can get a pretty colour.

I personally switched to Apple about 4 years ago and since have spent over 100,000 with them.

Just think Sony. You could have had that.

You big corporations spend hundreds of millions of dolars on sports stars and advertising to get customers and all you had to do was spen a few bucks looking after the ones you HAD.

Just got the laptop two months back.

My Config : 3rd gen core i3, 6gig ram 1 gig amd graphics, win 8 64bit.

The problem is it is not able to play video properly. Have tried almost all media players available but video play is choppy and glitychy. After almost every 20 minutes the video glitches with a buzzing sound for almost 5 seconds. Even while buffering videos in youtube and all such problem happens. This thing is happening for mp3s also.

I searched a lot on the internet for the issue and in one post i got a suggestion to install the latest version inter rapid storage technology. I have done that and still the issue persists.

Can i have some suggestions please. Anyone else having the same kind of an issue.

Is there any driver update i need to do or do i need to rollback on any of the windows update please suggest.

Hoping for a quick reply and more so for a solution
